My love of Aussies started back in the 70’s with “Sissy”, a little blue merle, belonging to my blacksmith. I had never seen a dog that was so smart, so loyal, and so focused on her owner. I was infatuated with her brains and with her color. When Sissy had pups, I picked out a blue merle. The “Buzz” came to live with me. “Buzz” was incredible! He was a person in disguise, a herding wizard, and extremely loyal and protective. I was hooked.

As “Buzz” got older, I began the search for another Aussie. Still scarce in Connecticut, the search was a long one. At a horse show in 1988, I met a woman with a litter of Aussie puppies. “Scarlet” came home with me.

In 1992, Gil (See Gil’s Memorial Page) and I were married. He was intrigued with my Aussies. He found a male Aussie that he liked and we bred “Scarlet”. “Moon” was born. Gil was impressed with “Moon’s” ability to learn tricks instantaneously …. he was hooked too! We decided that this was the breed for us.

We were determined to do this right. We had acquired a little knowledge and discovered that our beautiful girls were not exactly the right color. They were both spayed and we acquired ASCA CH Calais Dash of Class. We dabbled at showing and breeding. Dash produced AKC CH Buff Cap Dash of Blue Denim. But I desperately wanted a blue merle female show puppy. In 1993, Heatherhill Joan Rivers, “Chelsea”, a dream come true, was added to our family.

“Chelsea” became ASCA/AKC CH Heatherhill Joan Rivers. She garnered multiple AKC and ASCA Best of Breed wins, group wins, and an Award of Merit. I was smitten by the show bug. I decided to also try obedience competition. While “Chelsea” was busy being beautiful, “Moon” was studying. She became Buff Cap Blue Moon of Tolland, CD, CDX.

Read our TRIBUTE TO “MOON”.

“Chelsea” was bred in 1996 to AKC/ASCA CH Terra Blue’s Just Too Hot which produced AKC CH Buff Cap Jerry Lee Lewis. In 1998, “Chelsea” was bred to AKC/ASCA Ch Paradox Propaganda and along came AKC/ASCA CH Buff Cap Nashville Blues, multiple Best of Breed winner. We were off and flying!
